John Patrick Ducas, Jr.

John Patrick Ducas, Jr.  died at the home of his sister in Whitehouse Station, NJ on March 17, 2013.

A celebration of John’s life will be held on Friday at the Galante Funeral Home 2800 Morris Ave. Union NJ, Visitation 4-8 PM. A 9:30 AM funeral Mass will be held at St. James Church Springfield, NJ on Saturday March 23. Interment Arlington National Cemetery at a future date.

John was born July 29, 1946 in St. Michael’s Hospital, Newark, NJ to Charlotte Ducas and the late John P. Ducas, Sr. John was a resident of Springfield, NJ and previously resided in Irvington.

John earned his bachelor’s degree from Seton Hall University and his master’s degree at Rutgers University. He was a career IRS agent, retiring from the Mountainside office. John served his country during the Vietnam War and continued military service with the NJ Army National Guard until his retirement, achieving the rank of lieutenant colonel.

John is survived by his mother Charlotte, daughter Lauren, sister Joan Austin, brother Joseph, and beloved Shirley J. Steinmann.  Additional surviving relatives include a niece, Caroline, as well as his aunt, Irene Saniuk, and many cousins.
