John Liberatore

John Liberatore, 87 of Union passed away on March 25, 2021.

Funeral is from the Galante Funeral Home, 2800 Morris Ave. Union on Monday March 29 at 8:30 AM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael's Church in Union at 10:15 AM. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Visitation is on Sunday from 2-6 PM at the funeral home.

Born in San Polo Matese, Italy, John settled in Newark in 1954 and has lived in Union for the past 43 years. He worked as a warehouseman for Western Electric for many years until his retirement. John enjoyed being outdoors, whether it was going for a long walk, or tending to his beautiful garden. He treasured time spent landscaping his property, and making delicious homemade wine and tomato sauce.

John was the beloved husband of 60 years to Madeline (nee Nuzzo) Liberatore; loving father of Pasquale Liberatore and his wife Lauren, Paul Liberatore and his wife Linda and Antonio Liberatore and his wife Tina; dear grandfather of Samantha Liberatore-Sluhocki and her husband Matthew, Alyssa Liberatore, Arielle Gallicchio and her husband Nicholas, Tyler Liberatore, Toni-Ann Liberatore, John Liberatore and Alexandra Liberatore. He was the adoring great-grandfather of Brendyn and Braxton, and is also survived by his sisters Henrietta Pontoriero and Rita Liberatore, sister-in law Edvige Liberatore and brother-in-law John Capra.
