Jose Fernandez, 78 of Newark passed away on Sept. 24, 2014.

Beloved husband of Carmen (nee Dominguez)

Father of Maria Luisa Steinagle and Juan Carlos Fernandez and his wife Marjorie.

Brother of Clotilde Fernandez and the late Fabio Fernandez.

Grandfather of Justen, Branden, Sebastian and Benjamin.

Jose was born in San Esteban De Novoa, Spain. He arrived and settled in the Ironbound section of Newark in 1972. He was an Assistant Butcher with The White Packing Company in Jersey City for many years. He also worked for East Coast Shipping as a longshoreman before retiring many years ago.

Funeral from the Galante Funeral Home 17 Pacific St. Newark on Monday at 8:30AM.

Funeral Mass is at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Newark at 9:30AM

Interment in Spain.

Visitation on Sunday from 1 to 5 PM.
