Jose Perez

Jose Vicente Perez (Joe) was born in Palmeira, La Coruña Spain on June 2, 1964. He lived most of his life in Kearny, NJ until moving to Hillside where he lived with his beloved wife Susan Deo-Perez and his esteemed mother-in-law Raffalina (Rae) Deo. Joe’s greatest treasure of all time is his daughter Samantha Marie Perez (Sammy) and his seven-month-old grandson Brooklyn Gomez whom he adored.

He was a proud member of the International Longshoreman’s Local 1235 where he worked for the past 18 years and where he met his wife, Susan.

Known to many as “Little Joe” and endearingly to Sammy as “Poppa Bear”, he was big in so many ways: a happy guy with a huge heart and a tremendous love of family. He would see the best in everyone and always greeted you like it was a celebration. He was generous, mild mannered, and laid back. He loved food, wine, golf, fishing, a good cigar, the Florida sun and shopping sprees but most of all he enjoyed time with his family and friends.

He was the son of the late Jose & Josefa Perez. He is survived by his loving family who meant everything to him: Susan Deo-Perez (wife), Samantha Perez (daughter), Nicolas Gomez (son-in-law), Brooklyn Gomez (grandson), Maria Mendez (sister), Dolores Pereira (sister), Jorge Pereira (brother-in-law), Michelle Pereira (niece), Christina Piccirillo (niece), Frank Piccirillo (nephew in law), In laws Carmine Deo & Aimee Braca Deo, Gregory Deo, Tammy Deo, Kaitlyn Deo, Alyssa Deo and Kristen Deo.
