Joseph DaSilva Barroqueiro

Joseph DaSilva Barroqueiro, 69, passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2013 in Newark, New Jersey. He was born in Portugal on October 12, 1943. On October 26, 1996 he married Ann Marie (nee Masciocco) in Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament in Roseland, NJ. He lived in the Ironbound section of Newark before moving permanently to Toms River, NJ 17 years ago. Known to everyone as “Joe B” he was employed by Shop Rite of West Caldwell for over 29 years. He was most recently employed as a real estate agent which had been his passion for most of his life.

He is the husband of Ann Marie. The father of Joseph Barroqueiro and his wife Gwen, Regina Salogiannis and her husband Kirk and Adriana and Elena Barroqueiro. Grandfather of Joseph, Madeline, Serena and Chloe. The brother of Manuel Barroqueiro and his wife Pauline, Anna Saldutti and Maria Barroqueiro. Uncle of Marcus, Bryan and Michael.

He was preceded in death by his parents Maria and Domingos and brother Antonio Barroqueiro.

Joe was a devoted husband and father and loyal friend who would do anything for the ones he loved. No matter where he was he was always the life of the party. His love of life was contagious. He was an avid boater and wine enthusiast who made his own wine. He enjoyed spending time with his family, being on the water, fishing, gardening (especially growing figs and tomatoes), traveling, listening to music (especially Elvis), dancing and watching sports (Colts, Braves, Rangers and his beloved Portuguese soccer team).

Visitation will be from 2:00 until 4:00 PM and 7:00 until 9:00 PM on Wednesday, April 24. Funeral services will be at Notre Dame Church in North Caldwell on Thursday, April 25 at 10:00. Procession will begin from Galante Funeral Home, 54 Roseland Avenue in Caldwell, NJ at 8:30am. Joe will be laid to rest at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover, NJ.
