Joseph M. Kmetz, 98 of Union passed away on Tuesday September  8, 2015.

The funeral will be from the Galante Funeral Home 2800 Morris Ave. Union on Saturday at 9 am. The funeral mass will be in St. Michael Church in Union at 10:15 am. Entombment will follow in Hollywood Memorial  Park in Union.  Visitation will be on Friday from 3-7 pm.

Born in Newark he lived in Union for 56 years, the last 10 as a resident of Schaefer Gardens. He was a supervisor for The Otis Elevator Co. in Harrison, NJ  for many years, retiring a number of  years ago. He was also a veteran of the US Army serving during WWII in the European Theater from 1942-1945.

Joe was married to his late wife Michelene (Lee) (nee Vitolo) until she passed away in 2000. He is the father of Carol Facenta and her husband Ronald, and Marlene Rost and her husband David. He is also the grandfather of Debra Harrington, and Teresa Fletcher, and the great grandfather of 2 great grandsons. Joe was predeceased by his late siblings Anna Skurski, Julia Piemonte, Andrew, John, and Michael Kmetz.
