Joseph C. Yurgatis
Joseph Charles Yurgatis, 81 of Caldwell died peacefully at his home on October 5, 2014.
Joseph was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to many. His final days were spent with his family by his side.
Joseph was born on November 14, 1932 in Wilkes-Barre, PA to John and Anna Yurgatis. Joe and his wife Faith moved to NJ in 1954.
Joe enjoyed riding his motorcycle and boating, but most of all enjoyed spending time with his family.
He served in the United States Navy and is a Korean War veteran. Joe retired in 1995 as captain of the East Orange Fire Department after 32 years of dedicated service, and was a member of the 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus, Caldwell, NJ.
Joe is survived by his wife of 58 years, Faith; six daughters and their husbands; 18 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Joseph is predeceased by his parents, John and Anna, his sister Dorothy, and his grandson Joseph Henry McCabe.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday October 7 at 12 noon at the Galante Funeral Home, 54 Roseland Ave. Caldwell. Entombment will follow at Restland Memorial Park. Visitation is from 10 am - 12 noon. For directions or to send a condolence, visit galantefh.com.
