Josephine Casale

Many people say that the kitchen is the heart of the home.  I believe the heart more so lies in who is running that kitchen.  Having said that, there was a tiny little kitchen in Union, NJ with a whole lot of heart because Josephine Casale was cooking in it.  Now that heart has traveled to heaven, where undoubtedly there is a pot of gravy and meatballs bubbling away as you read this.

Josephine passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2017 after a long, brave battle with Alzheimer's Disease at the age of 93.  Although many of her short term memories were stolen from her, she never forgot those most important to her...her family.  She is survived by her loving husband of 71 years, Anthony.  She also leaves behind her son Anthony, his wife Mary Ann, her daughter Denise and her husband Doug.  She also has three surviving grandchildren, Michael, Cristina (plus husband Dan), Doug (plus wife Marie) and three great grandchildren, Riley, Dominic and Aiden

There was never a special occasion that Josephine missed, glass of rock n rye in hand, tray of lasagna not far behind.  She took fierce pride in being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend.  Although we are saddened to have her gone from this world, one can be filled with joy as they imagine her happy reunion with her grandsons Christopher and Anthony, her parents Josephine and Frank, her brothers and sisters and all those friends and family waiting to greet her.  For now, rest easy Josephine and enjoy that "nice" cup of coffee you've been craving.  We love you.

There will be no wake for Josephine.  There will be a mass on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at 10:00am at St. Joseph's Church in Maplewood, NJ.  Following mass, there will be a burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery and Mausoleum in East Hanover, NJ.  The family asks that in lieu of flowers,
