Josephine S. Dolan, (nee Strano) 96, of Union, N.J. formerly of Vailsburg,

passed away peacefully on Thursday September 26, 2019 at home,

surrounded by her loving family and caregiver, Lali.

The funeral will be from the Galante Funeral Home 2800 Morris Avenue, Union, N.J.

on Tuesday at 9 am.

The funeral mass will be in Holy Spirit Church in Union at 10:30 am.

Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover, N.J.

Visitation will be on Monday from 4 - 8 PM.

Born in Newark she lived in the Vailsburg Section until she moved to Union, many years ago.

Josephine was the beloved wife of the late Joseph L. Dolan, for 31 years,

until he passed away in 1987.

She was the cherished mother of Michael J. Dolan

and Mary Ellen Dolan and her partner Jessica Biamonte.

She was predeceased by her four sisters, Marie Calandra, Nancy Wozowicz, Genevieve Cipriano and Eleanore Strano.

She was the loving Aunt of Anthony and Patricia Calandra and Robert Calandra and Great Aunt of Maria Scavone and Anthony Calandra, Jr.  She leaves behind many grand nieces and nephews, cousins and lifelong friends. Her faithful furry companion, Buddy was by her side until the end.

Josephine worked for many years at Carteret Savings Bank as an executive assistant until her retirement.  She was a member of the Holy Spirit Rosary Society and 60 plus. She loved playing bingo, going to Atlantic City but most importantly being surrounded by her family and friends.

She lived a long and wonderful life and shared her love, wisdom and friendship with us all. She was caring, funny, compassionate and always with a smile.  As Jo would say “ be kind to one another”.
