Josephine Grippardi

Josephine Grippardi (nee Marone) a longtime resident of Union, NJ died peacefully on May 13, 2014.

The funeral will be from the Galante Funeral Home 2800 Morris Avenue, Union,  on Friday at 8:30 am. The funeral mass will be in St. James Church in Springfield at 10 am. Entombment will follow in Hollywood Memorial Park in Union. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4-8 pm.

Born in Newark, NJ, Jo was first and foremost a homemaker and a homebody who lived in only 2 different homes over her long life, and loved to cook for and be surrounded by her loving family. Once her children were in school, she worked for some years as a bookkeeper at Cornell Hall in Union.

Predeceased by her beloved husband of 64 years, Sam Grippardi, and survived by her daughter Diane Crowley, son Paul Grippardi, and his husband Kevin Bentley. She is the sister of the late Mary Granieri, Joseph and Anthony Marone, and is the loving grandmother of Jared P. Crowley and his wife Toni, and Julianne Crowley as well as the great grandmother of Chase Crowley, and step great grandchildren Destinee, and Devin. She also is survived by many devoted nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends, especially her devoted niece Jean Upson.

Her family is grateful to her caretakers at  Center for Hope Hospice in Scotch Plains.
