Josephine Szurka

Josephine Szurka (née Pinilla), born on January 13, 1927, in Manhattan, NY, peacefully departed this world at her home in Union, NJ, on September 26, 2024. She was a remarkable woman whose life touched the hearts of many.

Josephine was the devoted mother of Wayne Szurka and cherished grandmother to Jesse Szurka. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Edwin Szurka, who provided her with unwavering support and love throughout their life together. Josephine was also preceded by her late father, Luis Pinilla, and her late mother, Mercedes Lausell Pinilla. Despite the loss of these beloved individuals, she is remembered fondly by many cousins, who held her in high regard.

Her legacy will continue to live on in the memories of her family and friends, who will always carry her spirit with them. In honor of her life, a visitation will be held on October 1, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM, followed by a funeral service at 12:30 PM, both taking place at Galante Funeral Home located at 2800 Morris Ave., Union, NJ.

Josephine's warm presence, compassionate heart, and loving nature will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
