Josephine Zapata, 92, of Newark, passed away on Friday, February 5, 2016 at Father Hudson House in Elizabeth surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral is from the Galante Funeral Home, 2800 Morris Avenue, Union on Wednesday at 9 am. Funeral mass will be held at St. Theresa's Church in Kenilworth at 10:15 am. Interment to follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Long Island, NY. Visitation is on Tuesday from 3 to 7 pm.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, Josephine lived in Newark for most of her life. She worked as a secretary at the Consumer Protection Agency in Newark for many years.

Beloved wife of the late Joseph; Cherished mother of Robert and his wife Maria, Daniel and his wife Vicky, Joseph and his wife Beverly, and Diane Rodriguez and her husband Fred; Loving grandmother of 7 and great grandmother of 6.
