Joy Cowell

Joy Ann Cowell (nee Langowski), beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away suddenly on November 3, 2021.

Having lost her own mother in her teens, Joy focused her love and attention on building her family. The “keeper of Christmas,” she loved hosting family dinners, large holiday celebrations, and going on family vacations to the beach.  An avid amateur genealogist, and voracious reader, Joy spent countless hours researching and sharing family history and stories. Eminently practical, Joy was the person that others relied on for guidance and advice.

Joy leaves behind the love of her life, her devoted husband of 51 years, Richard. She also leaves behind her loving children, daughter Bridget and son-in-law-Marc, and son Richard and daughter-in-law Amanda. She adored and was adored by her grandchildren Christopher, Caitlin, David, Emily, and Hailey. Her family treasured every moment spent with her.

Joy joins her parents, Marion (nee Perdian) and Richard Langowski, and dear sister Renee Wierck. She will be remembered always by her sisters Lori and Jaclyn, and their families, and by the many members of her large family who loved her.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation for Joy at the Galante Funeral Home, 2800 Morris Ave. Union on Tuesday November 9 from 2-5 PM. A Memorial Service will be celebrated in the funeral home at 4:30 PM.
