Joyce Hartman

Joyce Hartman (nee Hancock), 91 of West Caldwell passed away on August 26, 2017.

Born in Portishead, England, Joyce served in the Royal Air Force before moving to the United States, working as an exchange nurse at Beth Israel Hospital. There she met her husband in 1956. They married in 1958 and settled in Newark; later living in Clifton, Totowa and Montclair before Joyce moved to West Caldwell 11 years ago. She was a longtime registered nurse at Essex County Hospital in Cedar Grove prior to her retirement. Always an avid reader, Joyce enjoyed staying up to date on current events, as well as working on her needlepoint and knitting projects. A lifelong traveler, Joyce most loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Joyce was the beloved wife of the late Louis Hartman; loving mother of Susan Hartman-Olsen and her husband Bob, and Lisa Hartman. She was the dear grandmother of Mira, Robert and Isabelle; and was predeceased by her 8 brothers and sisters.

Funeral services are private, in the care of the Galante Funeral Home, 54 Roseland Ave. Caldwell.
