Julia Fernandez Roman

Julia Fernández Román passed away peacefully at her home on February 7, 2024 at the age of 96.

She was born in Ourense, Spain and came to the United States in 1952, where she lived in Newark, NJ and worked as a talented seamstress for most of her life.

In her free time, she enjoyed sewing, crocheting, painting, baking (especially her unrivaled apple pies and Christmas cookies) and spending her summers in Spain.

She is survived by her loving daughter Alicia Fernández and her husband, Sergio Seijas; her cherished grandsons, Sergio, David and his wife Gracie, and her great-granddaughter, Evelyn, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 60 years, Jose Fernández Pérez, and her siblings Jose Benito, Delmiro, and Sara Román. 

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers contributions be made in her memory to the Dementia Society of America by mail to PO Box 600, Doylestown, PA 18901, or online www.DementiaSociety.org/donate.

She will be greatly missed by all.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 9, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Galante Funeral Home - 2800 Morris Ave, Union, NJ 07083. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Newark with entombment to follow at Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum in North Arlington.
