Katherine Florence Hendershot

Katherine Florence Hendershot of Union, NJ, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at the age of 95. Born on February 11, 1927 at Newton Hospital, Katherine was the oldest child of Hobart and Beulah Weller's four children. She grew up in Green Township where her family owned a dairy farm.

A graduate of Newton High School, Katherine  moved to Kent, Ohio to continue her education with her grandparents' support in her future achievements. Katherine later moved back to Newton, New Jersey where she met her husband of 68 years Stanford Hendershot and later raised three boys. Katherine worked many years for Marsh and Son in Millburn, New Jersey. When she was not working, she  enjoyed her home and was always decorating and rearranging it. Her prize gardens sometimes put the botanical gardens to shame. She loved to try out her latest recipes to share, while spending time with her friends. Most of all Katherine, aka, “mama,” loved and helped to raise her grandchildren and great grandchildren while giving much boyfriend and housekeeping advice. Katherine often stated that her great grandchildren fulfilled her life beyond words and were her greatest reward. A devoted wife and mother, Katherine cherished her family members and was loved by so many, both young and old. She was everyone’s “Mama.”

Predeceased by her sister Emily Soar, brothers Robert and William Weller and daughter In law, Christine Hendershot. Katherine is survived by her children Roger and Jeffrey Hendershot and the late Wayne Hendershot. Grandchildren Tracy and Paul Monteiro, Darren and Ingrid Hendershot and Wayne Hendershot Jr. Katherine was blessed to have known her five great grandchildren Kailey, Lauren, Jordan, Van and May, who will

miss her beyond words and to whom she adored. Katherine’s friends and family hold dear her memory and will smile whenever she is mentioned. Until we meet again Mama, rest peacefully and create beautiful gardens in heaven amongst the angels.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation for Katherine at the Galante Funeral Home 2800 Morris Ave., Union

Sunday July 17, from 12 - 2 PM and 4 - 6 PM with a Funeral Service to be held at 5:30 PM.

Funeral from the Galante Funeral Home on Monday July 18 at 9:30AM and a service at 10AM followed by

entombment at Hollywood Memorial Park in Union.
