Kay Tocci

Kay Tocci (nee Merenda), 92 of Rockaway passed away peacefully at Exelcare in Dover on February 13, 2024.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation for Kay at the Galante Funeral Home, 2800 Morris Ave. Union on Friday February 16 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. A Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday at 10 AM. Interment will follow at Hollywood Memorial Park.

Born in Newark, Kay worked for over 35 years at Beth Israel Medical Center in the Pacemaker Department, where being fluent in Italian, she helped so many patients translate conversations. Fiercely proud of her heritage, she was also a member of the Hillside Hadassah- as their only Italian member. 

Kay was a wonderful mother who taught her daughter how to speak up for herself, and made her into the strong woman that she is today. She and her husband became like parents to their son-in-law Joe, and treated him as they would have treated their own son. A hardworking woman all her life, she had been sick for many years, but is now at eternal peace.

Kay was predeceased by her beloved husband Frank Tocci, and by her siblings Harry, Joe, Vinnie and Nina. She is survived by her loving daughter Irene Tarascio and her husband Joe, his daughter Gina and husband Steven and by her cherished nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
