Leonard “Lenny” Del Vento, beloved husband of the late Maria Del Vento and dedicated father of Erika Del Vento, passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2021. He was predeceased by his wife of 45 years, Maria, who passed away one week before him.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation celebrating the lives of both Lenny and Maria at the Galante Funeral Home, 2800 Morris Ave. Union on Wednesday February 17 from 4-8 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Lucy's Church in Newark on Thursday at 9:30 AM. Entombment will follow at Hollywood Memorial Park in Union. Guests are reminded to observe COVID-19 precautions, and to kindly make your visit brief so that others may pay their respects.
Lenny grew up in Orange, NJ and lived in Livingston until later moving to East Hanover. He gave the best of himself to his family and career. Lenny was a lifelong member of the International Longshoremen’s Association for 43 years, where he worked as the Head Foreman Stevedore at Maher Terminal. He enjoyed summers at the Jersey Shore with his wife & daughter, where he loved to entertain family, friends, and neighbors. He was a talented cook and loved to make wine. Some of his fondest memories include hosting holidays at his home. His warm embrace and big heart were felt by anyone who was lucky enough to spend time with him.
Lenny is survived by his daughter Erika Ann Del Vento, brother Aldo Del Vento, and sisters Renita and Carla Del Vento, along with many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by many dear friends and family.
