Leonard F. McGinley

Leonard F. McGinley, of Union, NJ, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2024 at the age of 92. Born and raised in Elizabeth. Leonard later lived in Roselle, then in Forked River before settling in Union in 2019. He was the beloved husband of Angelina (née Saraceno) for 68 wonderful years.

A proud father, Leonard is survived by his sons, Joseph and his wife Diane, and Charles and his wife Eileen, as well as his daughters, Regina Eisler and her husband John, and Victoria Harrow and her husband Russell. He was the loving brother of Claire Mason and the late Charles, James, Michael McGinley, and Joan Geiger.

 Leonard was also a cherished grandfather to Tom, Joseph, Colleen, Brittany, Christopher, and Katlyn, and a proud great-grandfather to six great-grandchildren.

Leonard served as a Sergeant with the U.S. Marines during the Korean War. He was a skilled baker by trade and served as the President of the Bakers Union Local 50, and then later served as Vice President of the International Bakers Union for many years.

An avid fisherman and card player, Leonard enjoyed playing poker and spending time with his family, especially his many grandchildren. He was a member of the Old Guard of Forked River, Knights of Columbus and will be remembered for his love of life, his family, and his generosity.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Leonard’s memory.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 20, from 4-8 PM at the funeral home located at 2800 Morris Ave, Union, NJ. A Mass will be celebrated at St. James Church on Saturday, December 21, at 10 AM. Burial is private.
