Leonard J. Schillizzi

Leonard J. Schillizzi 89 of Westfield formerly of Union, died on Sunday January 26, 2014, at Overlook Medical Center in Summit.

The funeral is from the Galante Funeral Home 2800 Morris Ave. Union, on Saturday at 9 am. The funeral mass will be in St. Michael Church in Union at 10:15 am. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Westfield. Visitation will be on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm.

Born in Newark he lived in Maplewood, and then in Union  for 50 years, before moving to Westfield 10 years ago. He was a Division Line Supervisor for PSE&G in Irvington, for 44 years until he retired in 1989. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the US Army reaching the rank of Lieutenant. He served as a Eucharistic Minister and as head usher in St. Michael Church in Union at the Saturday evening mass for many years. He also was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council # 4504 in Union, an avid golfer, and a big Giants and Yankees fan.

Lenny was married to his wife Lorraine M. Schillizzi (nee Nicol) for 61 years. He is the father of Anthony, Michael and his wife Laura, John and his wife Jennifer, and the late Leonard and Robert Schillizzi. He is also the grandfather of Matthew and Craig.
