Lillian Palumbo

Lillian L. Palumbo (nee Martone), 94 of Summit passed away at home on April 17, 2017.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. James Church, 184 South Finley Ave. Basking Ridge on Thursday at 10 AM. Entombment will follow at St. Teresa Cemetery in Summit. Visitation is on Wednesday from 4-8 PM at the Galante Funeral Home, 2800 Morris Ave. Union.

Born in Newark, Lillian was a longtime Summit resident. She began her career as a nurse, working at St. Michael's Hospital in Newark. Later, Lillian began teaching as a professor of nursing at Seton Hall University, finally becoming the Dean of Nursing at Seton Hall University. During her time as Dean, she earned her phD in Nursing from Seton Hall University.

Lillian was the beloved wife of the late Frank S. Palumbo; loving mother of Frank S. Palumbo III, Jack Palumbo, Richard Palumbo, Jane LaStella and Marybeth Fossett. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
