LuAnn Alliegro Squitieri, 65 of Union passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on May 3, 2019 at Center of Hope Hospice, Scotch Plains NJ.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation for LuAnn at the Galante Funeral Home, 2800 Morris Ave. Union on Tuesday from 4-8 PM, and on Wednesday morning from 11 AM to 12 noon, with a funeral service being celebrated at 12 noon.
LuAnn was a lifelong resident of New Jersey, born in Newark, grew up in Irvington and later moved to Union. She was predeceased by her parents Paul Alliegro and Anna Vanicore Alliegro, sisters Patricia Tamashausky Wojcik and Carol Tamashausky Paulin. LuAnn attended Irvington High School and earned an associate degree from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. She worked most of her career in the accounting field for Thyssenkrupp Elevator in Cranford and recently retired from Infinite Conferencing, Springfield.
LuAnn was involved with various animal rescue groups and cared for many unadoptable animals. LuAnn’s kindness and generosity provided them with love and a safe environment to live out their last years. She was selfless and devoted to all the animals in her care.
LuAnn is survived by her brother Paul Alliegro, Jr., nieces Debra Wojcik- Scott, Denise Wojcik, Patricia Wojcik Rogers, Darlene Wojcik-Doyle and Great-nephews Tyler, Alex, and Justin Scott, Ian Rogers, Brian and Conor Doyle.
