Lucia Vergel entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, May 28th 2024.
Lucia was born in Camaguay Cuba on July 6, 1943 to Ramon and Rosa Yero. As a young teen, she saw her beloved island go into the hands of a dictator regime. While the landscape of her homeland changed and many were left without basic necessities- Lucia was a savy fighter. She always made sure that her two children never went without. Often, still dressing them with the best clothing imported from Spain. In 1968, she immigrated to the U.S with her husband and two children. Lucia set roots in Newark, New Jersey and worked for the Hollander Fashion Company. Later, having two more children- Lucia dedicated herself to working hard and ensuring that her children appreciated the results of hard work from this great country. Lucia was known by many to be a fierce mother and loyal friend. She had a soft spot for those less fortunate and always donated food and money to those in need. Ever the fashionista, Lucia will also be remembered for her impeccablesense of fashion, jewelry and perfumes.
While she will be greatly missed by her family, they rest in the knowledge that she is in heaven with our Lord and savior.
Lucia is survived by her daughter Blanca Vergel, her sons Osvaldo, Jesus and Daniel Vergel. Her grandchildren Victor, Christopher, Steven, Brigette, Daniel, Victoria, Matthew and Joshua. Her great grandchildren, Jessie, Nicholas, Jacob, Emiliana and Romeo.
