Lucy LaGrasso

Lucy LaGrasso (nee Zorini), 98, of Manahawkin,( previously of Down Neck Newark),  passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on April 22, 2023.

Born in Rome, Italy, Lucy came to the United States in 1939 and settled in Newark, New Jersey. After marrying her husband, the late John LaGrasso, they made their home in Down Neck Newark, where they raised their three children.

Lucy worked as a seamstress and worked in Public Service as a waitress until she retired. Lucy was a life long parishioner at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Society.

Lucy loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Lucy was predeceased by her parents Giovanni and Francis Zorini and her sister Mary De Piro.

Lucy is survived by her three children, Linda (Anna) and her husband Alan Marfia, Nunzio and his wife Dolores LaGrasso, Lisa and her husband Richard Maccia; her eight grandchildren, Alan and his wife Stephanie Marfia, Valarie and her husband Anthony Genuario, Jennifer LaGrasso and Ray Campisi, John and his wife Iwona LaGrasso, James LaGrasso, Jonathan and his wife Danielle Maccia, Jeffrey and his wife Evelina Maccia, Brittany and her husband Nick DeSantis; her nine great-grandchildren, Vincent Marfia, Adrianna Marfia, Nicholas Genuario, Gia Genuario, Mia LaGrasso, Lily LaGrasso, Logan Maccia, Richard Maccia, and Vienna DeSantis.

She is also survived by her nephew, Stephen DePiro and nieces, Yvonne David and Joanne Gaffey, and many great nieces and nephews.

Lucy lived in Down Neck Newark all of her life before moving to Manahawkin in 2020 to be close to her three children. To honor our mother's wishes there will be no viewing and all are welcome to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 259 Oliver Street, Newark, New Jersey on Thursday, April 27, 2023 at 10:30 am.
