Luis Antonio Morales (1933-2024)

Luis Antonio Morales, 91, of Roseland, NJ, a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away at home surrounded by his loved ones on August 28, 2024.

Services are private, in the care of the Galante Funeral Home in Caldwell.

Born in San Sebastian, Puerto Rico in 1933 to Antonio and Clotilde Morales, Luis was the 2nd eldest of twelve children. In 1951 at the age of 18, Luis was the first of his siblings to immigrate to the United States where he settled in Newark, NJ. It was there in the Ironbound Section of Newark where he met Myrna Martinez with whom he would spend the next 68 years.

Lovingly known as “Papa”, Luis loved being around family and friends. He was a storyteller, a dancer, a comedian, an avid caretaker of plants and animals, but most of all a best buddy to everyone he met. Papa would frequently be seen walking around town or at the high school track where he enjoyed chatting with friends and neighbors.

Luis was predeceased by his siblings Israel, Ediberto, Robert, Juana, Aurora, Efrain and Milagros. He is survived by his sisters Naida DeAngelis, Sarah Lopez, Elba Portee and Maria Olmo. He cherished his daughters Debbie Marsano (Joe), and Evelyn Morales.

Papa’s greatest blessings were his grandchildren; Jaclyn Marsano Feeley (Kevin), Jenna Kolyvas (Nick), Jina Callandrello (Joseph), Jilian Malits (Steven), Joelle Athwal (Navi) and his great grandchildren; Riley Madison, Calvin Joseph and Remi Rae and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Please pray for his family and friends that the Lord our God give them strength, comfort and love during this time. May his memory be eternal!
