Luke M. Amoroso

Luke M. Amoroso, 86 of Union passed away on Friday, April 7, 2023.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation for Luke at the Galante Funeral Home, 2800 Morris Avenue, Union on Tuesday April 11 from 4-8 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Spirit Church in Union on Wednesday at 10 AM. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Born in Jersey City on December 11, 1936, Luke graduated from Snyder High School in 1954. He proudly served in the United States Army, spending time overseas in Korea.

Luke returned home and went to work for Western Electric. Starting in the mail room, he rose through the ranks and spent the next 40-plus years in a number of roles, retiring in 1995 as an accounting supervisor for Lucent Technologies.

Luke met the love of his life, Lilia shortly after his return from the Army. The couple married on August 2, 1964, and eventually settled in Union to raise their family.

More recently, Luke treasured his role as a grandfather, or as he was affectionately known, Pop. Pop always had a story ready to help teach a lesson, and lit up every time he was with one of his grandchildren.

Luke was a gentle and kind soul. He was involved in many church-based activities and ministries. He most loved God, Family and Country.

Luke was the beloved husband of 59 years to Lilia (Degidio) Amoroso; loving father of Dr. Michael Amoroso and his wife Rebecca, Paul Amoroso and his wife Debbie, and Mark Amoroso and his wife Heather; dear brother of Bernice Crimaldi and Mary Lou Martinek; cherished grandfather of Natalia, Nicholas, Joseph, Daniel, Gillian, Alexa, Olivia, Chloe, Graham, and Sutton. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to be made in Luke's memory to Food for the Poor.
