Mafalda Vasfailo, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2013 at the Columbus Long Term Acute Care in Newark, leaving us one day before her 86th Birthday.

A life-long resident of the Ironbound section of Newark, she was born in the house she resided in for the last 85 years.  Mafalda retired from Prudential, where she worked for many years as a Clerk.   Through her life, she enjoyed traveling, bowling, trips to Atlantic City and time with family and friends.

Mafalda was pre-deceased by her parents, Angelo and Ida (nee Cicalese) Vasfailo, aunt and uncle, Angelo and Lucille Cicalese, brothers, Frank, Anthony, Rudy and Joseph, sister Lavinia, cousins Anthony Cicalese and Daniel Gutierrez.  She is survived by her loving and devoted cousin, Concetta M. Gutierrez of Lawrenceville, many nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews, life-long friends and neighbors.

Visitation will be on Monday from 9:30 – 11 AM at the Galante Funeral Home 17 Pacific St. Newark on Monday. A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Newark at 11:30 AM.

Entombment at Hollywood Memorial Park, Union.
