Manuel Losada Marquina AKA Manolo by his friends and family, past away on February 4, 2025, at the age of 90. Born in Vilaboa, Rubias de Ramiranes, Celanova, Orense, Spain, 

Manolo's early life was filled with the vibrant culture of his homeland. He later moved to the United States in 1956, where he settled in the Ironbound section of Newark before making Elizabeth, NJ, his home in 1966.

For an impressive 57 years, Manolo dedicated his career to the Maersk shipping company at Port Elizabeth, NJ, as a Longshoreman. His commitment to his work was marked by his membership in the International Longshoreman Association local 1235, reflecting his strong work ethic and the respect he earned within his profession.

Manolo was deeply proud of his family, and some of his happiest moments were seeing his children and grandchildren grow into the educated and talented adults they are today. 

Manolo’s legacy will be his love and loyalty to his family, his strong work ethic and his deep rooted relationships with his core friends, all of which shaped and were instilled in his family.

Manolo is survived by his loving son, Manuel B., and his wife Karen, daughter Irene Losada-Louro, her husband Juan, stepdaughter Pilar Veloso, as well as his cherished grandchildren: Bryana, Daniela, Gabriela, Nicolas, Evan and his wife Morgan. His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Cruz and Benson Santori, who brought him immense joy.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ana of 21 years, and then later, his second wife, Marina of 35 years. Additionally, his siblings Ramon, Celso, Gustavo, Carmen, and Purificacion Losada Marquina, and his parents Benito and Purificacion, have also passed, leaving behind memories that will be cherished by all who knew him.

Manolo is also survived by his many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made on his behalf to the American Cancer Society in loving memory of his late wife's.

Family and friends are invited to the visitation at Galante Funeral Home at 2800 Morris Ave., Union on Friday February 7, 2025. A viewing will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, followed by a Wake service at 7:30 PM. A funeral service will take place, Saturday February 8, starting at 9:00 AM with a prayer service at 10AM. followed by the entombment at Hollywood Memorial Park in Union.
