Marcelina Silva (nee Palma), 88 passed away on December 10, 2018 in Bangor, PA.
Funeral is from the Galante Funeral Home, 2800 Morris Ave. Union on Friday at 8:15 AM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Spirit Church in Union at 9:30 AM. Entombment will follow at Hollywood Memorial Park. Visitation is on Thursday from 4-8 PM at the funeral home.
Born in Portugal to Antonio and Jesuina Palma in a family of 10 siblings, Marcelina moved to Toronto, Ontario for a short time before settling in Perth Amboy in 1969. She worked for the Perth Amboy Board of Education as a custodian for several years. A hard working lady, Marcelina fiercly loved her family, and reflected that love in every batch of home made delicious soup, and freshly baked bread she made for them, and in each sweater and blanket she crocheted for her children and grandchildren.
Marcelina was the beloved wife of the late Americo who passed away in 2002. She was the loving mother of Alvaro Silva and his wife Joanne, Eugene Silva and his wife Elba, and James Silva and his wife Wendy; dear grandmother of Christine Rivera and her husband Andy, David Silva and his wife Florentina, Eugene Silva, Jr., Karina Silva, Gabriella Silva and Brendan Silva; and great-grandmother of Carly, Adrianna, Olivia and Sophia. She is also survived by her sister Eulalia Costa.
