Margaret Amato

Margaret Amato (nee Merlo), 88 of Union passed away peacefully on March 6, 2020 at home.

Funeral services will be from the Galante Funeral Home, 2800 Morris Ave. Union on Monday, March 9th at 10:30 AM.

Interment will follow at Hollywood Memorial Park.

Visitation is on Sunday, March 8th, from 1PM-5PM.

Born in Newark, NJ, Margaret lived in Union for the past 43 years. She worked for Weston Electrical Instrument Co. in Newark and retired as a Crossing Guard for the Union Township school system, whichbrought her great joy for many years.

Margaret was the beloved wife of the late Russell Amato for 58 years. Loving mother of her son Vincent Amato and his wife Susan, daughters Sarah Diana and her late husband David Diana Sr., and Angela Klopfer and her husband Charles.

She is survived by her brother Joseph Merlo and is pre-deceased by brothers Andy, Nick, Sam, Jimmy, and Tony.

She was a wonderful grandmother to her 8 grandchildren David, Amy, Vincent Jr., Stefanie, Angela, Michael, Christopher, Maggie; and her 5 great-grandchildren David, Dylan, Jackson, Gabriel and Mila.
