Margaret S. Johnsen

Margaret S. Johnsen (nee Salerno) 96, of Union died on Sunday January 15th, 2012 at Overlook Hospital in Summit.


The funeral is from the Galante funeral Home 2800 Morris Ave. Union, on Thursday at 9 am. The funeral service is at Grace Lutheran Church, Union at 11 am. Cremation is private. Visitation is Wednesday 4-8 pm.


Born in Newark she lived in Union for 70 years. She was an assembler for William Kratt Mfg. Co. in Union for 5 years, and later was a cafeteria worker at Kean University in Union for 10 years, before retiring 50 years ago. She also was a volunteer at Union Hospital for 23 years, a member of the Union Garden Club, the Connecticut Farms Women’s Club, and the High School Park Civic Association, as well as an avid bowler, knitter, and loved to travel.


Margaret was married to her late husband William K. Johnsen for 60 years until he died in 2002. She was the mother of Robert C. and the late Fred W. Johnsen, the mother in law of Edith A. Johnsen, the grandmother of Chris, Kenneth, Jennifer, and Janinne Johnsen, and the great grandmother of 1 great granddaughter.


In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to Grace Lutheran Church 2222 Vauxhall Road, Union, N.J. 07083 in her memory.
