Maria C. DiSena

Maria Colavita DiSena was born on April 21, 1940 in Monacilioni, Provence of Campobasso, Molise in southern Italy. She learned how to sew at the age of 12. She moved to Venezuela in her teens and in 1969 to Staten Island, NY and took a job as a tailor in a men’s tailor shop. In 1970, she met and married her husband Angelo DiSena, and together raised 4 children after moving to NJ. There she opened up her own alterations business, and worked until her retirement in 2014, when she came to NC to live out the rest of her life.
She is survived by her four loving children, Maria Laura Messina and husband Louis Messina Jr of Winston Salem, NC, Randolph Angelo DiSena and wife Rosalia DiSena of Saginaw, Michigan, Angelo Anthony DiSena and wife Carlotta DiSena of Detroit, Michigan and Violet Linda Mondacci and husband Ricardo Mondacci of Howell, NJ. She is also survived by her eight cherished grandchildren Giovanna Maria Messina, Louis Anthony Messina III, Salvatore Angelo Messina, Adriana Rose Mondacci, Gia Ann Mondacci, Angelo Pietro DiSena, Gabriel Antonio DiSena and Jessica Maria DiSena.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation for Maria at the Galante Funeral Home, 54 Roseland Ave. Caldwell on Monday September 11 from 9-10:15 AM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Aloysius Church in Caldwell at 10:30 AM. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover.
