Maria Trofimova

Maria Trofimova, 60 of Short Hills passed away on January 7, 2024.

Born on November 3, 1963, in Gatchina, Russia, to Anna and Vasily, Maria grew up very quickly when she lost her father at a tender age. These formative years instilled in her a deep resilience and self-reliance to help guide her through the many twists and turns of life. Her academic prowess was evident from a young age, culminating in a Gold medal for outstanding academic success, which led her to graduate from Saint Petersburg State University of Aerospace and Instrumentation.

Maria first met Dmitriy, when they were in 7th and 5th grade on a summer camping trip. Their acquaintance blossomed into a deep bond over time, leading to their marriage on September 19, 1987. This marked the beginning of a life filled with love, shared dreams, and unwavering support for each other. Their union was blessed with two wonderful sons, Michael and Oleg, who Maria cherished more than anything in the world.

Maria's move to the United States in 1993 marked the start of a notable career in software development, balancing her professional achievements with a deep commitment to her loved ones. Her passions included traveling, skiing, and immersing herself in the arts, often visiting museums and theaters. These activities were always more enjoyable for her when shared with her loved ones. An avid mushroom picker, Maria's joy in this hobby was only surpassed by her generosity, as she frequently distributed her bountiful finds among her friends and family.

Maria's legacy continues through her loving husband, Dmitry; her sons, Michael and Oleg; her mother, Anna; her siblings-in-law, Olga and Vitalik; and her nieces, Tanya and Sasha. Additionally, her memory is lovingly held in the hearts of an extensive circle of friends from various chapters of her life, including her childhood and college years, her professional circles at work, members of the local Millburn community, fellow enthusiasts at the local sports club, and numerous others who were fortunate to cross paths with her at different stages of her life. Her absence leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew her, but her spirit lives on in the memories shared and the love she spread.

A service to celebrate Maria's life will be held on Monday, January 15th at Galante Funeral Home, 2800 Morris Ave, Union, NJ. Visitation will commence at 10am, followed by a ceremony at 12 noon. Maria will be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield.
