Maria Varga

Maria Varga, (Maria Szeman) 10/19/1931 – 8/8/2024 – beloved wife to Julius (Gyula) Varga, deceased; beloved Mom (Anyu) to daughter Maria M. Varga, beloved Grandma (Nagyi) to granddaughter Sabrina (Fusco) Styler (James Styler), great-grandson Troy Varga Styler; beloved Mom to son John P. Varga (Susan Sommer); son Julius J. Varga, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends. 

She was fondly referred to as an “Angel on earth” and lived her life accordingly, brightened every room she walked in; every person she connected with… proud American – escaped Hungary during the Hungarian Revolution of 1956 and landed at Camp Kilmer in January of 1957 with the help of American soldiers; became an extremely proud and humble US Citizen in 1964 but never forgot her homeland -- instilling wisdom, knowledge, history and love to all around her. She was regarded as the Grandma of Battlehill Elementary School (Union) and helped nurture kids for nearly 3 decades (27 yrs) which was so important to her and so respected and recognized by the teachers and staff.

A visitation for Maria will be held on Monday, August 12th from 4:00pm - 7:00pm at Galante Funeral Home, 2800 Morris Avenue in Union.
A Mass in celebration of Maria's life will begin at 10:15am on Tuesday, August 13th at St. Michael Church, 1212 Kelly Street in Union, NJ.
Cremation will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, we kindly ask donations be made to the Alzheimers Association.
