It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved and devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother Martha Maillaro (nee Mancinelli). She passed away at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston on November 25, 2012.
The visitation will take place at the Galante Funeral Home 54 Roseland Ave., Caldwell on Tuesday from 9 AM till 10:30 AM . A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church, Roseland at 11:15 AM. Interment is at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
Born in Newark she lived in Roseland for many years.
Martha was a strong woman. She was widowed at a young age and left to raise three young children alone. She found employment as a food service worker with the Newark Board of Education and worked her way up to the rank of head cook and manager at Speedway Avenue School in Newark. She retired from this position after 33 years. Additionally she held many side jobs in order to provide a home, food and education for her children. She accomplished this through strength, courage and determination.
Martha’s cooking and baking skills were extraordinary. Everyday she took joy in cooking and baking for her family and friends. She gave support, care and love to anyone who needed her; friends and family alike. She will be cherished and deeply missed by all.
She is the wife of the late Frank A. Maillaro. The mother of Guy Maillaro and his wife Patricia; Dolores Rapa and her husband Robert and Geri Mastroeni and her husband Samuel.
Also survived by 9 loving grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
