Martin Edward Adams 86, of Union, died in Overlook Hospital in Summit on Friday March 9th, 2012.
The funeral service is in the Galante Funeral Home 2800 Morris Avenue, in Union; on Monday at 1 pm. Entombment will follow in Hollywood Memorial Park in Union. Visitation is Monday from 11am -1pm. For directions visitgalantefh.com.
Martin was born in Newark and lived in Hillside before moving to Union over 60 years ago. He graduated from Boys Vocational High School in Newark.
He was a veteran of WWII serving as a gunner in the US Navy on the North Sea bringing supplies to the Russians at Mermansk. He was awarded the European Theater Medal, the American Theater Medal, and the Victory Medal.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years Lucille and 2 sons Gregory, and Garry Adams, and 3 grandchildren Nicole, Eric, and Lindsay.
He was a carpenter and cabinet maker in his own business for 40 years. He was active with the Boy Scouts, and had a troop at Connecticut Farms, in Union, and also did volunteer carpentry work at Camp Winnebago in Rockaway, N.J. for 30 years with the Evergreen K and Flintlocks Organizations, repairing and building for the Patriots Path Council.
