Mary Ann Giufurta

Mary Ann Giufurta (nee Catena) a beloved daughter of Eugene and Rose Catena, loving mother to Eugene and Nicole, Aunt to nieces and nephews and cherished friend to many passed away peacefully on August 22 2024, at the age of 81. Born in Pennsylvania, Mary Ann devoted her life to caring for others, first as a dental assistant at ILA Clinic in Newark, NJ, where she worked for five years before retiring. Her career was just one chapter in her remarkable journey, characterized by her unwavering commitment to her family and friends.

Mary Ann spent her earlier years in South Orange and West Orange, before making Lincoln Park her home for the last two years of her life. Those who were fortunate enough to know her will always remember her compassionate and vibrant and sometimes saucy spirit and the way she effortlessly made everyone feel at ease. Her caring demeanor transcended her professional life; she was a devoted caregiver to many family members and friends during their times of need, becoming a beacon of warmth and support in their lives.

Family was the cornerstone of Mary Ann’s existence. She is survived by her loving son Eugene, and her loving daughter Nicole. Her love for her family was a constant source of pride and fulfillment, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

Mary Ann was predeceased by her husband Orazio, and her sister Dolores Marino.

To honor Mary Ann's life, a viewing will be held on Thursday August 29, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Galante Funeral Home in 54 Roseland Ave in Caldwell, NJ. 

A mass celebrating her life will take place on Friday August 30, at 10:00 AM at St. Raphael Church in Livingston, NJ.

Cremation is private.
