Mary Appolonia
Appolonia, Immaculata (Mary) nee (Racanelli), 90 passed away
peacefully at home on October 8, 2018 surrounded by her family.
Born in Newark, and resided in Berkeley Heights.
Known as Mary, she graduated from West Side High School in Newark in 1946.
After high school, she worked for New Jersey Bell in Newark
before marrying her husband Anthony who predeceased her in 1970.
Mary worked along with husband Anthony in various business endeavors
while raising their children.
In 1976 Mary founded with her sons Air Brake & Equipment in Irvington
before moving to Hillside where she was the Corporate Secretary for 40 years.
Mary was a tireless, self-taught business woman who was an inspiration to all who knew her.
Mary was an avid reader and enjoyed watching classic movies.
She will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother to her four loving sons,
Michael and his wife Linda of Marlboro, Stephen and his wife Anna of Colts Neck,
Anthony, Matthew and his wife Cathy of Berkeley Heights.
The greatest pride and joy of her life were her eight grandchildren,
Anthony, Nicole, Daniella, Alexandra, Stephen, Maria, Frankie, and Matthew Jr.
She is predeceased by her parents Joseph & Elizabeth (Isabella) nee (Errico) Racanelli,
by her siblings, Lena Taccogna, Ann Haren, Jean Verrone, Francis Bernstein & Frank Racanelli.
Survived by her brothers Joseph Racanelli and his wife Theresa
and Louis Racanelli and his wife Anne
and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are welcome to gather on Thursday October 11, 2018 from 3-8 pm
at Galante Funeral Home, 2800 Morris Ave., Union, NJ.
A Funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday October 12, 2018
at St. Lucy’s Church, 118 7th Avenue, Newark, NJ at 11 a.m.
Following the funeral service there will be a burial at Mount Olivet Cemetery,
23 Cottage Place, Bloomfield, NJ 07003
