Mary Alonso Malvarez

Mary Alonso Malvarez, 93 of the Ironbound section of Newark passed away on February 18, 2014.

Funeral is from the Galante Funeral Home, 2800 Morris Ave. Union on Monday at 8:30 AM. Funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 10 AM. Entombment is at Hollywood Memorial Park in Union. Visitation is on Sunday from 2-6 PM.

Born in Spain, Mary was a lifelong resident of the Ironbound. She worked as a hostess at the Spanish Pavilion Restaurant in Harrison for many years.

Mary was the beloved wife of the late Juan. Loving mother of Maria Freitas, Juanita Levant and her husband William, and Dolores Centolanza and her husband Louis. She was the sister of Carmen Alvarez, John Alonso and his wife Chris, and the late Estrella Martinez. She is survived by her loving grandchildren Kim, Dana, William III, Todd, Keith, Chad, Louis II and Darin; and also 27 great-grandchildren.

Mary was a loving wife and mother, and a wonderful grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved her family which was her lifelong pride and joy.
