Mary A.T. Wilke

Mary A.T. Wilke  (nee Tiboni) 87, of Newark, passed away on Wednesday January 4, 2017 at Community Medical Center in Toms River, N.J. The funeral will be from the Galante Funeral Home 2800 Morris Avenue in Union, N.J. on Monday January 9, 2016 at 9am. The funeral mass will be in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Newark (Ironbound) at 10:30 am. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington, N.J. Visitation will be on Sunday January 8, 2017 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm.

Born in Newark she was a lifelong resident of the Ironbound section of  Newark.

Mary was employed as a corrections officer for the Essex County Department of Corrections for over 30 years. Prior to that she was matron for the Newark Police Department, and was a postal worker in the Newark Post Office , additionally she was a baker in St. James Hospital in Newark specializing in making cranberry crunch bars. Other positions she held were as an office cleaner in the Newark area, and as a meat packer for Haydu Meat Packing Co. in Newark.

By maintaining all of these positions she was able to teach her children how to keep a good work ethic.

Mary was the beloved  wife of the late Joseph Wilke  who passed away in September of 1980.

She is the loving mother Joseph V. Wilke and his wife Sandra,

Elizabeth Connolly and her husband Peter, Catherine Payne,

and Mary Jo Mc Nulty and her late husband Hugh F. Mc Nulty II.

She was also the devoted sister of the late Frank Tiboni, the late Peter Tiboni, Reverend Monsignor  Vito Tiboni, Joseph Tiboni,

and the late Caterina Tiboni,

as well as the cherished grandmother of Vito, Michael, Cheryll, Kristen, Kathleen, Mary, Peter, Catherine, Stephanie, and Joseph,

and the great grandmother of  Logen, Ryleigh, Isabella, Michael, Nicholas, Gabriella, Catherine, George, Elizabeth, Anna, Grace, Josephine, Thomas, Vito, Maria, Peter, Mary Rose, Eliza Jane, Jeffrey, and Nicholetta,

and the great great grandmother of Oscar.
