Matilda Romano (née Canovas) lifetime resident of the Ironbound section in Newark, NJ, died peacefully in her home on Sunday, May 30, 2021.
Matilda (Tillie), daughter of the late Manuel and Josephine Canovas, wife of the late Dominick Romano, mother of the late Patrick Romano, grandmother of the late Joey (Cap) Caponegro, sister of the following deceased family members, Manuel (Slug) Canovas, Diego Canovas, Angelo (Pudgy) Canovas, Josephine Coppola (Canovas) and Mary Federico (Canovas),
leaves behind her daughter Dawn Romano, her son Dominick Romano and daughter-in-law Donna Romano, her daughter Karen Caponegro (Romano) and son-in-law Joe Caponegro, daughter-in-law Gail Romano, her grandchildren, Michelle Schulz (Romano),Tina Lepore (Romano), Nikki Garofalo (Caponegro), Felicia Romano, her 12 great grandchildren and great great grandson.
Tillie was a member of the Ironbound seniors Monday Club and the Clifford Street Seniors Club.
She will be sorely missed by all family and friends.
A visitation will be held at the Galante Funeral Home 2800 Morris Ave. in Union NJ on Friday, June 4 from 9 AM until 12:00 PM, a wake service will be held at 12:00 P.M followed by the interment at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington NJ.
