Michael J. Masi 79, of Springfield, passed away on Tuesday June 25 ^th , 2013, at Overlook Medical Center in Summit.

The funeral is from the Galante Funeral Home 2800 Morris Ave. Union, on Monday July 1st, assembling at the funeral home at 9 am. The funeral mass is at St. James Church in Springfield, at 10:30 am. Interment will follow in Somerset Hills Memorial Park in Basking Ridge. Visitation will be on Sunday from 4-8 pm.

Born in Newark he lived in Springfield for 74 years. He was the owner of Mike Masi Produce Inc. in Vauxhall for many years. Currently he is the owner of M&R Auto Sales Inc. in North Plainfield, as well as the owner of Michael’s Pizzeria in Roselle Park . He was a former charter member and  Past President of the Millburn, Short Hills Chapter of UNICO National.

Mike was married to his wife Shirley J. (nee Pellegrin) for 55 years. He is the father of Debra Smith and her husband Russell, Tina Masi, Michael Masi Jr. and his wife Paula, and Anthony Masi and his fiancé Tiziana Cino. He is also the brother of Mildred Merlucci, and Ralph Masi, as well as the beloved grandfather of Michael Anthony Masi, Michael Joseph Masi III, Justin, Daniel, and Chelsea Mendes.
