Michael Scoppettuolo "Mike Scap", August 6, 1955 - March 29, 2016, of Springfield, NJ passed away from a long bout with cancer.
Funeral is from the Galante Funeral Home, 2800 Morris Ave. Union on Saturday at 8:30 AM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. James Church in Springfield at 10 AM. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Visitation is on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.
Mike was a world renowned musician, mastering 17 string instruments, but the guitar was his passion. Mike mastered the guitar before age 10. He has played with most of the best acoustic musicians in the world. He not only taught them, but also starred in over 37 albums as well as having cameos on several albums and TV shows, including Martin Mull's Special. When Mike recorded his debut album "Sketches" (which he did the cover art for), he was reviewed in every acoustic magazine ranging from Bluegrass Unlimited, Acoustic Guitar, Acoustic Musician and was praised for his stellar ability including but not limited to classical as well. Folks, we lost one of the best.
Michael Scoppettuolo "Mike Scap" is survived by his parents MaryAnn and Carmen Scoppettuolo; his brothers Carmen and Ronald Scoppettuolo and his sisters Maria Scoppettuolo and Dolores Fenton; as well as 11 nieces and nephews.
