Mildred T. Barbarisi

Millie got her wings and went to walk with the angels on September 29, 2024; she was 78 years young. 

Millie was born in Newark, New Jersey. She is predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Louis whom she met and began dating at the ages of 14 and 13. Millie is survived by her loving children, grandchildren, brother and sister: her daughter Michele and husband Tom, their children Alexandra, Nicholas, Gabriella and Vincent; her son Louis Barbarisi; her daughter Nicole and husband Anthony, and their children Gianna, Victoria and Anthony; and by her brother John Machiaverna and his wife Mary, and her sister Elisa Bock.

 Millie started as a shampoo girl at her Aunt Jean’s shop on West Market Street in Newark at the age of 13. She then worked on and off as a hairdresser while she had children. From 1984 until her retirement in 2014, Millie had salons at Inglemoor Care Center in Livingston and at The Chelsea of Florham Park. Until 1994 being a hairdresser was her passion, then she became a grandmother. Known as “Mimi” to her grandchildren, she loved them more than life itself and spent all of her time with them. She made all of them feel so special and immensely loved. Her grandchildren spent summers with her in North Wildwood, their birthdays, holidays, and all special days playing cards and just hanging with them. The time spent with her will be cherished by her children and grandchildren always.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation for Millie on Thursday October 3 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Galante Funeral Home, 54 Roseland Avenue, Caldwell New Jersey. A Funeral Service will be celebrated in the funeral home at 6 p.m., and her cremation will be held privately.
