Hi and thank you for reading my little history.

I am Mildred Andersen my maiden name was Chapman.

I was born November 25 in the year 1925 in Tampa, Florida.

My father worked for the railroad and owned a farm!

I remember as a child getting in trouble for letting a pet chickens run into the house!

We also had some geese and horses on the farm. And it just wouldn’t be a farm without dogs,

I had two brothers Jimmy and Gene to look after me and keep me out of trouble.

My mother died young in my life and my two brothers looked after me.

As I got older I decided to go to college at the U. of Tallahassee where I studied nutrition.

Some where in the story World War II started and threw the world on its head.

In the confusion I met my future husband Gordon Andersen.

Some of you maybe remember that name

for Gordon stayed at Forest Manor till the Lord claimed him.

Gordon had just entered the Merchant Marine as young man from Evert, WA.

We dated for some time but decided to put off wedding till after the war.

Gordon shipped out to the South Seas

delivering badly needed war supplies to our brave fighting men.

With the powers that be Gordon survived the war.

At the request of the Government Gordon shipped to Japan

to help rebuild the Japanese merchant shipping.

After a short stay in Japan he came home and we married.

We as newly weds settled in the Tampa area.

Gordon was very interested in that new gadget the TV!

Gordon joined RCA with the mission of getting new TV stations online for the masses.

We stayed in the Tampa area for a bit and then the travel started. Chicago, New York and so on.

But we had settling down in the plans. Gordon landed a job as a Lab Manager in the RCA’s tube division in Mount Holly.

At that time Mount Holly was a growing town so common in the post war boom years.

We bought a new house in the area and decided to start a family.

The first born was Carol in November 1953 and the second was Nancy in September 1959.

The young family decided to move to Scotch Plains were a new development was being built.

I was a stay at home mom till the kids got old enough to take care of themselves Boy, those were good years!

As the kids grew into young women.

I took a job as a teacher’s aide for special need children in the Scotch Plains School System.

It was a difficult job but, in the end, I loved the work and found rewarding!

The kids really took to all the extra love and tenderness.

I had more than few come back to visit me as they grew,

I didn’t have too many hobbies other than my family

and the Scotch Plains Presbyterian Church.

We loved traveling to Hawaii (13 times)

and being active in the Scotch Plains Presbyterian church.

My favorite church event was the bake sale where I made a lemon meringue pie to die for.

I was married to Gordon for 67 years. Gordon passed in 2016.

Now I will be with Gordon till all things end at Hollywood Memorial Park in Union, New Jersey.

A simple service will be held at Galante Funeral Home in Union, New Jersey

on Monday January 28th. Viewing hours will be from 11am to 12pm.

Interment will follow at Hollywood Memorial Park  in Union, N.J. at 12:30 PM.
