Margaret Mildred Huska, 97, known all her life as Millie, passed away peacefully surrounded by family

on December 9, 2024. 

Millie was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt.

Millie was born to Rudolph and Antoinette Bossany on April 30, 1927. Millie married her husband,

Milan in 1949. and they raised their two children in the house that Milan and her cousin built in Union.

Millie was very actively involved at her home church of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church where she

dedicated much of her time as a member of the Ladies Altar Guild, Women’s member, Trinity Fellowship

Vice President and Choir member. As Chairperson of Holy Trinity, she collected baby goods and clothing

for babies affected by AIDS in Elizabeth. She also collected food and clothing for battered women at

Elizabeth YMCA, as well as collected and donated clothing to St. Joseph’s Soup Kitchen in Elizabeth.

Additionally, Millie collected food for the Union Food Pantry, for many years. She was also a Member of

Horvath Cushing VFW Auxiliary #14 for 50 years.

Millie spent 25 years working in the Union Township school system where she was a playground aide at

Battle Hill School, secretary for the AVA department at Union High School and a librarian’s aide at

Franklin School. She was also a Cub Scout den leader and Girl Scout troop leader for her children.

She enjoyed traveling on many excursions with her husband, Milan. She was a wonderful cook, always

made sure her family was well fed and in her free time, enjoyed drawing, sketching and could often be

found reading a good book.

Millie was predeceased by her husband, Milan and her daughter-in-law Barbara. She is survived by her

son, Gary Huska, daughter, Amy and son-in-law Peter Norris. Grandchildren Kristie Norris, Michael

Norris and his wife Keri, and great-grandchildren, Michael David and Abigail, niece, Debbie Slifer, four

nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews as well as other relatives and close friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 13 from 3:00-7:00PM at Galante Funeral Home, 2800 Morris

Ave., Union. A funeral service will take place the following morning on Saturday, December 14th at 9:15am at the funeral home.

Burial will follow at Hollywood Memorial Park located at 1500 Stuyvesant Ave in Union.
