Nicolaos Papadakis

Our beloved father and grandfather Nicolaos Papadakis, at the age of 89, peacefully passed away on August 17, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

Nicolaos was born to George and Fotini Papadakis in Volada, Karpathos. In the 1950s he immigrated to the United States with his family for a better life where he learned English and worked in restaurants. In 1961, he returned to his homeland and married his late wife Evagelia Papadakis. In 1979, Evagelia moved to New Jersey with their children Maria and George to be together. In his spare time, he enjoyed beekeeping, tending to his olive trees, and fishing — which he found great pride in sharing his harvests with this family and friends.

Nick is survived by his daughter Maria Stavrakis and her husband Tom, his son George Papadakis and his wife Frangitsa, his five granddaughters Evagelia, Georgia, Nicole, Mary and Evangelia, his brother Billy Papadakis, his grand-dog Cesar, and many more loving cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the funeral service on Wednesday, August 21st, 2024 at the St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Union, NJ. Visitation will be at 10am and the funeral service will be at 11am. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery in Linden, NJ.
