Ophelia Bryant

Ophelia Bryant 87, of Union, died at Overlook Hospital in Summit on Thursday October 8, 2015.

The funeral service will be at the Gethsemane Baptist Church 326-330 15th Ave, Newark at 11am. Interment will follow in Graceland Memorial Park in Kenilworth, NJ. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday, October 16 from 10-11 am.

Born in Shannon, North Carolina she lived in Newark, before moving to Union many years ago. She was a graduate of Fayetteville State Teachers College in North Carolina, and taught grammar school in Georgia prior to her arrival in Newark.

Ophelia was married to her late husband Charlie Bryant, and is the mother of Marilyn Beckwith and her husband Thomas H. Beckwith. She is also the sister of James E. Council Jr. and Kathleen Traynham, and the grandmother of  Darleen, Charlene, Steven, Ruby, she is also survived by many other relatives and church friends.
