It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Paul Devito, a beloved father, husband, brother, son, grandfather and friend, left us on November 24, 2024, at the age of 57. Born on March 6, 1967, in Toritto, Province di Bari, Italy, Paul then migrated in 1972 to Newark, NJ. He then lived in Kenilworth before settling in Roselle Park, NJ.
Paul dedicated many years of his life to his career, beginning at Tuscan Dairy, followed by a position with Union County Parks & Recreation, and ultimately serving as a heavy equipment operator with Roselle Park DPW. His unwavering work ethic and dedication were evident not only in his professional life but also in how he cherished each role he took on, always committed to supporting his community.
Family was the cornerstone of Paul's life; he was deeply devoted to his loved ones. He is predeceased by his father John Devito. He is survived by and leaves behind his cherished wife, Regina, and his beloved sons John and his wife Anna, Joseph and his wife Theresa, and Anthony and his partner Ella. Paul's warmth touched the lives of his grandchildren, including Paul John Devito and the soon-to-arrive in December Luciano Paolo Devito, whom he eagerly anticipated meeting. He also leaves behind his caring mother, Anna, his sisters Rosa Angela and Pina, his brother-in laws Steve "Butch", and Donato. He also leaves behind his nieces Samantha, Christina, Alyssa, and his nephew Nicholas.
Paul's personality shone through his unwavering optimism and his favorite quote, "It is what it is." He met life with grace and a sense of humor, embracing its challenges with acceptance and understanding. An avid Harley motorcycle rider, Paul found freedom on the open road and had a passion for fishing and camping, activities he enjoyed sharing with his family and friends. Though he may no longer walk among us, Paul Devito's spirit lives on in the memories and love of all who had the privilege to know him. His legacy is one of devotion, strength, and a profound appreciation for family and life.
In celebrating Paul’s life, his family invites everyone to remember him through the memories created and the love shared. Friends and relatives are welcome to gather for visitation on November 29, 2024, from 4 PM to 8 PM at Galante Funeral Home, located at 2800 Morris Ave, Union, NJ. A funeral mass will be held the following day, November 30, 2024, at the Church of the Assumption at 9 AM, where we will honor the remarkable life of a truly special man.
