Peter G. Fortunato Sr. 95, of Union died on Friday March 21, 2014 at Overlook Medical Center in Summit.

The funeral is from the Galante Funeral Home 2800 Morris Ave. Union on Tuesday at 8:30  am. The funeral mass will be in St. Michael Church in Union at 10 :15 am. Entombment will follow in Hollywood Memorial Park in Union. Visitation will be on Monday from 3-7 pm.

Born in Newark he moved to Union in 1970, and was a machinist for Crucible Steel in Harrison, NJ for 25 years and then at Anheuser Busch Brewery in Newark for 18 years, retiring 31years ago. A veteran of WWII he served in the US Army in the 11th Armored Division   in the European Theater, He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council # 4504 in Union, The Twp. of Union Senior Citizens Club  (all clubs) , The Regular Democratic Club of Union, and also served as a poll worker on election day, as well as being an ardent chess player.

Peter was married to his wife Ida M. (nee Marasco) Fortunato for 67 years, and is the father of Peter J. Fortunato and his wife Kathie, and Joseph Fortunato and his wife Jean. he also is the proud grandfather of Lisa, Jennifer, Jason, and Jonathan, as well as the great grandfather of Thomas, and Lillie Rose.
